Dyalekt
Co-Founder, MC, and Hip Hop Educator
Dyalekt brings hip hop to places that don't know they need it but desperately do.
Dyalekt has been an MC, theatermaker, and educator for over 20 years. At Pockets Change he uses hip-hop pedagogy to demystify personal finance and help students heal their relationship with money. He’s rocked worldwide stages, conferences, keynotes and classrooms. He converted phonics lessons into rhymes for NYC DOE’s WORD UP program.
“As an educator my work is about Identity, literacy and self efficacy (I get stuff done, I make kids believe themselves) using Hip-Hop pedagogy - we all learn in different ways, all the ways that we learn are all the ways we express. if we can figure out the ways we tend to express, that will help you understand the ways that we learn and this informs people on how they should teach.”
His latest research-based jam is You Can Buy Happiness w/Warren Britt on Afronaut Media FFD. He is the recipient of Jump$tart’s 2022 Innovation in Financial Literacy award. See his full bio
